Cell Phone policy

CORHA requires certain positions to carry personal cell phones while on the job as a condition of employment. Your job description will indicate if you are required to carry a cell phone. If you are required to carry a personal cell phone, you will receive a monthly allowance to cover business-related usage and relevant taxes. See your supervisor, Human Resources or the Executive Director for the current cell phone allowance. Cell Phone Usage While Driving Safely operating a motor vehicle requires a driver's total attention. Therefore, employees of Central Oregon Regional Housing Authority shall not answer or use cell phones until the vehicle is pulled off the road, put in park and fully stopped, even if the cell phone has a hands free feature. This policy shall be in effect while driving a housing authority owned vehicle, or a personal vehicle on housing authority business.

It is CORHA's intent by issuing this cell phone policy to prioritize employee safety, public safety and prevention of motor vehicle accidents over perceptions of employees that the need to answer business calls or personal calls are more important than paying total attention to safely operating a motor vehicle. Furthermore, this policy shall apply even if the vehicle is stopped at a stop sign or red light. Violations of this policy shall be subject to disciplinary measures as outlined in other sections of this personnel policy.
